Where Will You Spend Eternity? How To Receive Salvation, Escape Hell, And Live Forever With God In Heaven
By Robert Woeger
Christian Author And Minister
This Bible-based Christian teaching by Robert Woeger explains how to receive salvation, get saved through Jesus Christ, understand what happens when you die, and choose eternal life with God in Heaven instead of eternal separation from God in Hell. It points readers to repent, believe the Gospel, confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, agree with God’s Word, and live forever glorifying God and enjoying Him.
Quick Answer: How Do I Receive Salvation And Eternal Life?
You receive salvation by turning from sin, believing in Jesus Christ, confessing Him as Lord, and trusting that God raised Him from the dead. Salvation is not earned by good works, religion, church attendance, or personal effort. It is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
The Bible says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” — Romans 10:9
If you are asking, “What happens when I die?” or “How can I go to Heaven?” the answer is clear: receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior now, while you are alive on Earth. Heaven is the eternal home of those who belong to Jesus Christ. Hell is the eternal judgment awaiting those who reject God’s salvation. Your response to Jesus Christ in this life determines where you will spend eternity.
The most important decision you will ever make is this: Will you repent, believe the Gospel, receive Jesus Christ, and live forever with God?

What Happens When You Die?
What happens when you die?
That question is the most important question any person will ever face.
You can build a career, make money, gain followers, raise a family, chase pleasure, earn respect, and still avoid the one question that determines everything beyond the grave: Where will you spend eternity?
The Bible teaches that your life on Earth is temporary, but your soul will live forever. Death is not the end of your existence. Death is the doorway into eternity. The real question is not whether eternity is coming. The real question is whether you will spend eternity with God in Heaven through Jesus Christ, or separated from God in the reality the Bible calls Hell.
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” — Hebrews 9:27
This is not meant to frighten you into shallow religion. It is meant to awaken you to eternal truth. God loves you. Jesus Christ died for you. Salvation is available to you. Heaven is real. Hell is real. Eternal life is real. Judgment is real. And the choice you make concerning Jesus Christ in this life matters forever.
The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make
Many people search online for questions like:
What happens when I die?
Is Heaven real?
Is Hell real?
How do I receive salvation?
How do I get saved?
How can I know I have eternal life?
Can God forgive me?
How do I go to Heaven when I die?
What does the Bible say about life after death?
The answer is not found in guesswork, human opinion, tradition, religious performance, or personal feelings. The answer is found in the Word of God.
Jesus Christ did not come merely to make bad people better. He came to bring spiritually dead people into eternal life. He came to save sinners, forgive sin, reconcile people to God, deliver souls from eternal judgment, and open the way to Heaven.
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” — Luke 19:10
You were created by God and for God. You were not created to live separated from Him. You were created to know Him, love Him, glorify Him, walk with Him, obey Him, and enjoy Him forever.
But sin separated mankind from God.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” — Romans 3:23
Sin is not just a mistake, weakness, or bad habit. Sin is rebellion against God’s holiness. Sin corrupts the heart, damages the soul, destroys peace, and separates people from the presence of God. No amount of good works, positive thinking, religion, charity, church attendance, or personal morality can erase sin.
That is why salvation is not something you earn. Salvation is something you receive by faith through Jesus Christ.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” — Ephesians 2:8
“Not of works, lest any man should boast.” — Ephesians 2:9
Why Jesus Christ Is The Only Way To Eternal Life
Many people want Heaven without surrendering to Christ. They want eternal life without repentance. They want God’s blessings without God’s authority. They want forgiveness without faith. But Jesus made the truth unmistakably clear.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6
Jesus Christ is not one option among many. He is the only Savior. He is the only way to the Father. He is the only door to eternal life. He is the only One who died for your sins, shed His blood, rose from the dead, conquered death, and offers salvation to all who believe.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” — Acts 4:12
This is why the Gospel is good news. You do not have to remain lost. You do not have to remain condemned. You do not have to remain separated from God. You do not have to face eternity without Christ.
Jesus paid the price you could never pay.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8
The cross proves how serious sin is. The resurrection proves how powerful Jesus is. The Gospel proves how much God loves you.
Heaven Is Real, Glorious, And Eternal
Heaven is not a fantasy, myth, dream, or vague spiritual symbol. Heaven is the eternal dwelling place of God, the home of the redeemed, and the glorious future of everyone who belongs to Jesus Christ.
Heaven is where God’s people will live forever in His presence. There will be no sin, no death, no curse, no sickness, no grief, no separation, no darkness, and no fear.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” — Revelation 21:4
Think about that.
No more funerals.
No more disease.
No more betrayal.
No more depression.
No more temptation.
No more spiritual warfare.
No more broken homes.
No more unanswered questions.
No more pain in the body.
No more heaviness in the soul.
No more distance from God.
Heaven is not merely escaping Hell. Heaven is being with the Lord forever. Heaven is eternal life in the presence of God. Heaven is fullness of joy, perfect holiness, perfect love, perfect peace, and endless worship before the King of kings and Lord of lords.
The greatest benefit of Heaven is not streets of gold. The greatest benefit of Heaven is God Himself.
To spend eternity with God is to live forever in His light, His love, His glory, His truth, and His presence. The redeemed will glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
Hell Is Real, Serious, And Eternal
A loving warning is still love.
Hell is not a popular subject, but Jesus warned about Hell because He loves people enough to tell the truth. Hell is not a joke, not a scare tactic, and not a symbolic inconvenience. Hell is eternal separation from God under judgment.
The Bible says:
“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” — Revelation 20:15
Jesus also said:
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” — Matthew 25:46
Hell is the final outcome of rejecting God’s salvation through Jesus Christ. It is not God’s desire for you. God does not delight in your destruction. God has made a way for you to be saved.
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9
That verse reveals the heart of God. He is patient. He is merciful. He calls people to repentance. He does not want you to perish. He wants you to receive eternal life through Jesus Christ.
But you must respond.
Ignoring eternity does not cancel eternity. Avoiding the subject of Hell does not remove the danger of Hell. Hoping everything will somehow work out is not the same as being saved. You must personally receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
What Happens When Someone Dies?
When someone dies, their earthly life is over, but their eternal existence continues. The Bible teaches that every person will face God. For the believer in Jesus Christ, death is not defeat. It is entrance into the presence of the Lord.
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8
For those who die in Christ, there is hope, comfort, resurrection, eternal life, and reunion in the presence of God. For those who reject Christ, there is judgment.
Only God knows the full condition of every person’s heart. But Scripture is clear: eternal life is found only in Jesus Christ. That is why the most loving thing you can do is receive Christ yourself and point others to Him while there is still time.
“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” — 2 Corinthians 6:2
Today matters. Your response matters. Eternity matters.
How To Receive Salvation And Get Saved
The Bible gives a clear answer for how to receive salvation.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” — Romans 10:9
“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” — Romans 10:10
To be saved, you must believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, that He died for your sins, that God raised Him from the dead, and that He alone can save you. You must repent of sin, turn to God, confess Jesus Christ as Lord, and receive Him by faith.
Salvation is not merely repeating religious words. Salvation is a real response of the heart to the living God. A prayer does not save you by itself. Jesus saves. Faith in Jesus saves. Calling upon the Lord from a sincere heart saves.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” — Romans 10:13
You do not have to clean yourself up before coming to Jesus. Come to Him now. Bring your sin, shame, fear, guilt, pain, and brokenness to Him. He is able to forgive you, cleanse you, save you, restore you, and make you new.
A Prayer To Receive Jesus Christ As Lord And Savior
Pray from your heart:
Lord Jesus Christ, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died on the cross for my sins. I believe God raised You from the dead. I confess that I have sinned, and I need Your mercy, forgiveness, and salvation.
I repent of my sins and turn to You. I receive You as my Lord and my Savior. Wash me, cleanse me, forgive me, and make me new. I surrender my life to You. Teach me to follow You, obey Your Word, and live for the glory of God.
Thank You for saving me. Thank You for eternal life. Thank You for making me a child of God. I choose to believe Your Word, confess Your truth, and walk with You from this day forward.
In The Name Of Jesus Christ.
How To Know You Have Eternal Life
God does not want you to live in confusion about salvation. He wants you to know that eternal life is found in His Son.
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” — 1 John 5:11
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” — 1 John 5:12
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...” — 1 John 5:13
You can know you have eternal life because God’s Word says so. Your confidence is not in your feelings. Your confidence is not in your past. Your confidence is not in your performance. Your confidence is in Jesus Christ and the promises of God.
If you have truly received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believe God’s Word. Agree with God in your thoughts, words, and actions. Do not speak defeat over your soul. Do not say, “I can never be forgiven,” when God says forgiveness is available through Christ. Do not say, “I am hopeless,” when God says eternal life is in His Son.
Agree with God’s Word. Believe it. Speak it. Live it.
If you sincerely prayed this prayer and received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, begin today by thanking God for salvation, reading His Word, praying daily, and choosing to follow Jesus Christ with your whole heart.
Eternal Life Begins Now And Continues Forever
Eternal life is not only something that begins after death. Eternal life begins when you receive Jesus Christ.
Jesus said:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life...” — John 5:24
The believer has everlasting life now. You begin walking with God now. You begin learning His Word now. You begin living by faith now. You begin turning away from sin now. You begin glorifying God now.
Then, when your earthly life ends, your eternal life continues in the presence of God forever.
That is why faith must be maintained. Keep believing God. Keep trusting His Word. Keep following Jesus. Keep agreeing with Scripture. Keep your heart anchored in eternal truth. The Christian life is not a moment of emotion. It is a lifetime of faith, surrender, obedience, and relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
What Should You Do After Receiving Salvation?
After you receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, begin walking with Him daily.
Read the Bible.
Pray every day.
Confess God’s Word in faith.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you.
Repent daily of your sins, and turn away from known sin.
Forgive others.
Find a Bible-believing church.
Be baptized in obedience to Christ.
Share your faith with others.
Live with eternity in mind.
Jesus did not save you so you could continue living as though nothing changed. He saved you to belong to Him.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
Salvation changes your eternal destination, but it also changes your daily direction.
A Loving Final Warning And Invitation
You are not reading this by accident.
God is calling you to eternal life. God is calling you to forgiveness. God is calling you out of darkness and into His marvelous light. God is calling you to stop delaying, stop excusing sin, stop trusting yourself, and start trusting Jesus Christ.
Heaven is real. Hell is real. Eternity is real. Jesus Christ is Lord. Salvation is available. The Gospel is true.
The question is personal:
Will you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
Will you repent and believe the Gospel?
Will you choose eternal life with God?
Will you agree with God’s Word in your thoughts, words, and actions?
Do not wait until death to think seriously about eternity. Do not assume tomorrow belongs to you. Do not gamble with your soul.
Jesus said:
“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” — John 11:25
“And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” — John 11:26
That is the question.
Do you believe this?
If you do, call upon Jesus Christ today. Receive Him. Follow Him. Live for Him. Speak His Word. Trust His Promises. Glorify God with your life. And when this temporary life is over, you will spend eternity with God, with Jesus Christ, in the joy, glory, holiness, and peace of Heaven forever.
